Ohio Tea Party PAC endorses Constitution Party candidate for Attorney General
This endorsement comes by a vote of liberty groups from all over Ohio . The criteria is a 7/8th majority. That is an 87.5% threshold, established so as to get a strong consensus before giving endorsement. Less that that would result in “no endorsement” for the given office.
This is a big deal. I will tell you that yours truly voted with the majority on this issue. I have told you repeatedly that I was drawn to the Tea Party because of its non-partisan support of three core principles. Yet, much we do seems to align us with the Republican Party. That is okay, but I am concerned if we make choices that put our principles aside to help a political party. I am also concerned because those who learn from the main-stream media will be told that the Tea Party is the extremist wing of the Republican Party. I would like to send a message that says that we are about principles- NOT party.
WE JUST DID THAT! Mike Dewine is the poster child for what is popularly known as a RINO. His cousin, Kevin DeWine, is the chairman of the Ohio Republican Party. Kevin is very good at his job. The conservative David Yost was going to run for Attorney General. After the concerned parties emerged from the smoke filled room in Columbus , Mr. Yost had been coerced into running for State Auditor, which would pit him against the very conservative Seth Morgan. This left Mike Dewine running unopposed. A late challenger, extreme conservative Steve Christopher mounted an attempt to run against Mr. DeWine in the primary. Strangely, at the deadline, Mr. Christopher’s petitions were ruled invalid and Mike DeWine ran unopposed. Hmmmm.
It has been said that we can’t split the vote. This is the time when you need to check your core values. Those of you who met Robert Owens at the Tea Party/912 Project event on June 15th at Evendale Community Center emerged with a warm fuzzy feeling that said, “I wish…”. He is best described as a constitutional literalist. He believes that the United States Constitution and the Ohio Constitution mean what the words in the document say. That is extreme in this day and time. Robert Owens will need your money and your daily mouth-to-ear publicity to have a remote chance to win this election. Richard Cordrey is running for the Democrats. He is not an extreme leftist. He is a brilliant scholar who has done much to protect gun rights in Ohio . Mike DeWine is the liberal candidate in this race. His presence on this ballot is not the result of an election. He was anointed by the royalty in the Ohio Republican Party.
There will be a press release on Monday announcing the Tea Party PAC endorsement of Robert Owens. The Tea Party has had some amazing victories thus far across America . But all of those victories have come running within the Republican Party. If Robert Owens wins this election, it would send an explosion throughout the land that the Tea Party is not a shill for the Republican Party. If Robert Owens has a very strong showing in this election, Mike DeWine will lose. That will notify the Ohio Republican Party that the Tea Party does not wish to “play nice”. We are guided by principle, not relatives in power.
