Thanks to everyone at Ohio18.com we are proud to bring you the final Meet the Candidate night video from the Kent State Tuscarawas campus that was held April 22nd, 2010. If you missed it, here’s what went on.
Last night at the Kent State Tuscarawas auditorium the final Ohio18.com Meet the Candidate Night was held. Approximately 180 local concerned citizens attended the event which was attended by all the candidates running for the OH-18 Republican position except for Bob Gibbs who said he had a family wedding on the east coast to attend this weekend.
It was very obvious by the questions voters asked the candidates that anti-large government stance and over taxation are concerns of the people.
One notable moment was from a gentleman who didn’t really have a question, but mentioned that there were now only six potential candidates for him to vote for. He said that those can’t show up so he could evaluate the candidates, they don’t get a slot for his potential vote.
A question by a young man who attends the Ohio State University asked the question of what the first step was to change the government if they got into office. The responses varied from not needing additional legislation, slowing down the process of passing new laws, team building coalitions of like minded conservatives and voting for someone else for speaker of the House other than Nancy Pelosi.
Most of the candidates favored a flat tax or fair tax over the current draconian federal income tax that is the current law.
With a candidate field of seven people vying for the Republican position to run against Zach Space in the November general election, there appeared to be little difference between the candidates on most of the issues. Unfortunately for the voters, the potential winner of this primary will probably on receive 25-30% of the entire vote. Technically it would take less than 15% of the total vote to win if the votes were distributed evenly amongst the candidates.
Now the fight begins for Bromberg,Hood, Moll, Dailey, Liggett and Daubemire to slug it out until the polls close May 4th.
Consitutents and potential voters from Bob Gibb’s home county are not happy that the would be representative is dodging their opportunity to ask him questions in the Ohio District 18 Candidate Night series.
These constituents and voters have been patiently waiting the event to be held at the Kent State University Tuscarawas branch in New Philadelphia Thursday night to ask questions of all the candidates running for the OH-18 primary.
Bob Gibbs, the RepublicanParty’s choice and backed candidate, has cancelled his appearance at the April 22nd Meet the Candidates Night event at Kent State. According to our sources Mr. Gibbs will be attending a family wedding this weekend which is why he will not be attending the debate.
In the the straw polls from the previous three Meet the Candidates Night, Gibbs has not placed in the top three favored candidates that potential voters seem to be leaning towards. These candidates have been (in no particular order) Moll, Liggett, Daubenmire and Dailey.
Voters can hear from the other candidates Thursday night starting at 6pm in the main auditorium at the New Philadelphia Kent State University branch.

Maybe I get easily bored. Or maybe I have heard the same things over and over. Or maybe I haven’t had my morning coffee just yet. But the Ohio 18th district debates have been, well, a little dull. Let me explain.
I have attended, heard, or seen several of the debates. Now, granted, these debates are usually the first time that potential voters get a chance to see the candidates in person and hear their positions on a wide variety of topics. However, does this really give the voters who are going to electing their candidate to run against Zack Space a real feel for who it is they are pitting against an established incumbent? I don’t think so. Continue reading It’s time for cage debating…
