It looks like, despite what seems to be some errant and bad reporting, there is no movement on this, no deal, and no support from Portman for the Cordray nomination, or any nominee for that matter, for the board until the Obama Administration drops their push for a structure that, as Portman said in his letter below, “violates basic principles of accountability and our democratic values.” Continue reading Senator Rob Portman to NOT endorse any CFPB Nominee Director
The failure of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, better known as the Super Committee, to reach agreement on $1.2 trillion in spending cuts is a serious disappointment. An opportunity to eliminate some of our huge debt was wasted – and with it, the chance to spur economic growth and create much-needed jobs. As an outsider sent to Washington to bring a new perspective, I am frustrated that politics as usual has gotten in the way again. While the Republican-led House secured the largest reduction in discretionary spending in history, the inability of the ‘Super Committee’ to come to an agreement to further reduce the deficit illustrates once again that Washington is broken and lacks the internal discipline to make the necessary but difficult choices to pay down our $15 Trillion national debt. Continue reading An Opportunity Missed Robert and Patricia Haynes take care of their two children, who at the ages of 30 and 34 are more like children in adult bodies. That’s because they both have cerebral palsy, and rely on their parents to feed and change them — and likely will for the rest of their lives. The Haynes family receives monthly checks from the state of Michigan through Medicaid, allowing the parents to care for their son and daughter themselves instead of institutionalizing them. But because a Michigan law classifies Robert and Patricia as “home health care workers,” they are considered public workers and therefore automatic union members — Read more… at the Blaze.com It has been 932 days since the Democrats have passed a budget. With the formation of the Super Committee, the Tea Party saw an opportunity for Americans to tell Congress what they would be willing to cut, and offer suggestions to make the budgeting process easier for them. CSPAN was even to cover the event. The Senate Rules Committee, headed up by Chuck Schumer, told the Tea Party gathering they were uncomfortable with the word “hearing”, and locked the doors and took away the microphones minutes before the event was scheduled to start. Here’s a rest of the story… The event quickly found a new location at Hillsdale College’s Kirby Center, where the hearing took place not too far behind schedule.
But behind the scenes it was focused on shaping who the mainstream media, and in this case, CBS in particular, wanted you to hear from – or not hear from. In a leaked memo, it appears that CBS was planning on shutting down Michelle Bachmann from the beginning. Bachman is on the House Intelligence Committee which is charged with the oversight of the United States Intelligence Community. Bachmann touts this position as her key insight into foreign policy. However, Keith Nahigian, who is Bachmann’s campaign manager, posted on their Facebook page an email exchange between John Dickerson, CBS New’s political director, and correspondent Caroline Horn. Continue reading Why we can’t trust the Mainstream Media Supporters of presidential candidate Herman Cain are striking back with a new ad taking advantage of the media firestorm over the alleged sexual harassment “case” in which none of the accusers or reporters have come forth with any valid or verifiable leads, witnesses, or information. They are utilizing the “high tech lynching” phrase to rally support for the newly minted front runner of the Republican field of candidates. Amazingly the mainstream media didn’t give this much attention to our sitting president when many of the questions that should have been asked of him, and thorough research was never, and still hasn’t been done. Makes one wonder why such vitriol against the man Cain? Maybe because they are more than just a little afraid. Maybe they have an agenda. Nah, must just be my paranoia, at least that’s what the “experts” are telling me.
Now, yes things are volatile and the front runners can change almost daily. It wasn’t long ago that Michelle Bachmann was the front runner in the straw polls but only received a little over 1% of the votes in Florida. Are the tides turning? Can one man really bring hope and change and not fluff and stuff? I think Herman Cain has some great ideas. His 9-9-9 plan is very intriguing and should be seriously considered. However, one thing that has not been mentioned or even asked of Cain is this: Will the national sales tax, personal tax and corporate tax rates be set in stone – unchangeable by politicians in the future and how will he insure that it can never be changed? And shouldn’t food and clothing – the necessities of living be exempted from the 9% national sales tax? Continue reading Cain Gaining Momentum and Presenting Real Hope and Change |

Why Senate Bill 5 Will Help Taxpayers – Or What is Wrong With Our System?
My wife and I are both retired schoolteachers, and we are divided about Ohio Senate Bill 5 and Gov. John Kasich. I’m for the proposal, but she doesn’t like it.
While at my wife’s retirement potluck dinner recently, I spoke to her family about the present state of education in Ohio, and then my mind started working. I taught in a district that had 85 percent reduced-price lunches. We were one of the poorest districts in the state, which means that for every dollar I was paid as a teacher, the state of Ohio paid 85 percent and the local residents paid 15 percent.
But herein lies the problem. Continue reading Why Senate Bill 5 Will Help Taxpayers – Or What is Wrong With Our System?
