By 18th Ohio Congressional District Rep. Bob Gibbs – December 1st, 2011
The failure of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, better known as the Super Committee, to reach agreement on $1.2 trillion in spending cuts is a serious disappointment. An opportunity to eliminate some of our huge debt was wasted – and with it, the chance to spur economic growth and create much-needed jobs.
As an outsider sent to Washington to bring a new perspective, I am frustrated that politics as usual has gotten in the way again. While the Republican-led House secured the largest reduction in discretionary spending in history, the inability of the ‘Super Committee’ to come to an agreement to further reduce the deficit illustrates once again that Washington is broken and lacks the internal discipline to make the necessary but difficult choices to pay down our $15 Trillion national debt. Increasing EPA Regulations Harming Job Creation and Burdening Small Businesses, Local Governments & States
Washington, DC – Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee Chairman Bob Gibbs (R-OH) released the following statement from today’s hearing, a review of the FY 2012 budget and priorities of the Environmental Protection Agency and its impacts on jobs, liberty, and the economy:

Feb. 11th celebrates National Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day
WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Bob Gibbs(R-Lakeville) cosponsored legislation introduced today directing the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to change their designation of milk as an environmental hazard. Under the EPA’s current rule, milk is considered the same as oil, and if dairy producers do not comply with the EPA’s rule then they will be subject to punitive damages.
Last year, the EPA announced a one-year extension specifically to address requirement for milk and milk product containers within EPA’s Oil Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure program, which directs producers to have an oil spill prevention plan by November 10, 2011. However, a finalized rule exempting milk has not been made. This legislation Congressman Gibbs cosponsored will prohibit enforcement of the EPA’s regulations on dairy and dairy product producers, processors, handlers and distributers, and it would require the EPA to implement this exemption within 30 days of the legislation’s enactment.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Bob Gibbs today announced the schedule of his first series of town hall meetings in Ohio’s 18th Congressional District.

I am hosting these town hall meetings so that I can hear directly from my constituents about their concerns and the issues they face. I will also give an update of what is happening in Washington and how I plan to address the crisis of record deficits and debt. WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Bob Gibbs was sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives today by House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). He will represent Ohio’s 18th Congressional District in the 112th Congress.
“It is an honor and a privilege to represent the people of Ohio’s 18th District,” said Gibbs. “I am ready to go to Washington and work to restore people’s trust and faith in Congress.”
“I am proud to be a part of this historic new Congress as we begin to address the needs of the people,” said Gibbs. “For me, the 112th Congress is about putting people back to work. In order to do that, we need to stop the reckless spending habits of Washington and allow the private sector to continue creating jobs and invest in our workforce.”
“I will remember the message the American people sent Washington in November and work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to control the federal budget and reduce deficit spending,” said Gibbs. “I will also fight to provide tax relief to the middle class and reform unnecessary and burdensome small business regulations.”
