The massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has become a serious concern for containment, cleanup and how it will impact the environment.
A couple of employees of CW Roberts demonstrate that by blowing hay and straw onto the oil slick can make for the most simple solution yet to date for cleaning up this environmental accident. It is simple, extremely effective and inexpensive.
Oil and Water Don’t Mix but…..
The idea is to blow straw or hay onto the affected areas of the Gulf and allow nature to do its work. The oil sticks to the hay or straw leaving clean water behind. Shrimp boats, trawlers and other ships could then collect the oil laden collection material leaving virtually no oil in the Gulf.
Even if the straw would wash up on a beach, beach cleaners, like the kind used to “sweep up seaweed”, could be used to collect the oil laden straw without much effect on the beach.
The oil soaked straw can then be mixed with wood chips and burned for fuel to generate electricity or supply heat.

That is if the federal government would get out of the way of Americans and allow them to do what we do best – be innovative.

People should know that employee protection laws do not apply to people who go to clean this up. I learned all about this reading about what occurred after the Exxon Valdez spill. People there were often sick for 10-15 years and there is a very high mortality rate.
95% of the known money spent on campaign finance is paid for by 0.025% of the population–a very wealthy few. They won’t be applying for these jobs–they own the companies that will make a lot of money cleaning up. If they do not have to worry about worker protection, they’ll make even more money.
