COLUMBUS — The Ohio Coal Association has joined a fast-growing list of business and industry groups and states that are challenging the federal government’s finding that pollution from cars, power plants and factories is dangerous to humans.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency determined in December that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases endanger people’s health. The decision set in motion a process to write new rules restricting climate-changing emissions.
At least three states — Texas, Virginia and Alabama — have challenged the EPA finding. All have Republican governors. Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, a Democrat, has made no move thus far to sue.
