The Ohio Free Press recently had a chance to hook up with Beau Bromberg and interview him about his candidacy for the 18th District Republic slot. You can listen to Vic Roth’s interview with Beau below.
Ohio Free Press met up with Beau (Bo) Bromberg at a Back to Basics meeting on Thursday February 18. After some opening remarks, Beau fielded questions from the group that gathered at Church of the Harvest in Dover, Ohio.
Beau described himself as a businessman for twenty years and an evangelist. He made it clear to the group that the qualifications to be a Congressman or woman could be met by most anyone in the room and that these elected positions were never meant to be careers to retire from.
Beau stated that if we really wanted change in our government we need to take a close look at who we are sending to Washington. He said ” you want them to think and act like we do.” His remarks about the Federal government were “they don’t do thing better than you do” as he reflected back to his childhood and told a story about government peanut butter and it’s texture as compared to a name brand and how it did not separate.
Mr. Bromberg then talked about Davy Crockett and his view on holding the government to the limits of the Constitution. He then ask ” Do we really believe in the Constitution and our God given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?”
Beau knows he will not receive the Republican Party endorsement and stated ” I don’t think we can elect a slow bleeding Republican” as he talked about the controversy in the Ohio party group. He stated “if you are looking for a bone marrow Republican, that’s me.”
As for where Beau stands on some issues he made the following statements.
- ” Over 90% of all elections and won by the candidate with the most money. We need to change that at a grassroots level.”
- “We need to cut the corporate tax rate by half “
- “promote U.S. manufacturing”
- “build and upgrade U.S. refineries and power producing facilities”
In closing Mr. Bromberg told the somewhat like minded audience he hopes to have support in all of the 156 precincts in Ohio by utilizing a network of precinct volunteers. He has already been to 25 fairs or festivals through out Ohio beginning in early summer 2009.
