NFIB honors Husted with Guardian of Small Business award

At a recent meeting of the NFIB/Ohio Leadership Council, members presented the prestigious Guardian of Small Business award to state Sen. Jon A. Husted (Kettering) in recognition of his outstanding efforts to support small business issues in the Ohio Legislature. Since its inception in 1988, this award has been presented to only four or fewer members of the state legislature each general assembly.

“Senator Husted has been a staunch supporter of Ohio’s small businesses throughout his time in the Legislature,” said Roger R. Geiger, vice president/executive director of NFIB/Ohio. “He both understands and values our state’s small businesses and he has consistently worked to protect free enterprise by advocating for limited government and conservative spending policies.”

During his time in the Legislature, Husted has earned a 100 percent NFIB/Ohio Voting Record by:
• Leading the effort to pass extensive tort reform legislation;
• Championing an income tax rate reduction, and
• Fighting for the elimination of the tangible personal property tax.

“Our state’s independent business owners and entrepreneurs are working tirelessly in the face of difficult economic conditions and an onslaught of threats of higher taxes and increased regulation,” Husted said. “We must stand with our small businesses – traditionally our state’s job creators – and that is why I am so proud to be the recipient of this award.”
