News flash for the President, we know you control the White House

Portage County TEA Party
September 12, 2010

Dear Editor,

This week President Obama visited Ohio for the 10th time in 18 months.  Every time he visits, the President keeps trying to tell us that he can’t turn the economy around because the Republican are the “party of NO” and will not vote for anything he wants.  Here is a news flash for the President, we know you control the White House, the Senate and the Congress. We know you don’t need any Republican votes to pass your agenda.  The fact is that he can’t get his own party to vote for his programs and those that have voted with him in the past are about to lose their jobs this November.

Why? Because his belief that government creates jobs and that government can stimulate the economy by raising taxes and/or borrowing money and then spending it on “make work” projects is flat wrong.  We have been forced to try it his way and it does not work and it has never worked.  Business creates jobs Mr. President and your anti-business policies are killing jobs, here in Ohio and across America.  We in Ohio are having it worse than the rest of the nation because we not only are hurt by the Presidents policies but also by our current Democratic Governor Ted Strickland who follows similar policies at the state level.

The President keeps talking about how we do not want to return to the policies that got us into this mess and he is absolutely correct.  The Republicans drove the car off the road toward the ditch with their excessive spending and government growth, but then the President hit the gas instead of the brake and drove us into the ditch and just keeps spinning the tires thinking he can drive us out with more spending and more borrowing and now more taxes.  They are both wrong, which is why we are going to send a lot more new people to Washington and Columbus this November than we have in long time.  We want to stop the borrowing, stop the spending, reduce the size and scope of government and get them out of our way.  Government spending is not the answer it is the problem.

Finally, let me say to the President that his insistence on trying to divide our country according to class and income is in a word “classless” and un-befitting of our leader.  This constant rhetoric pitting the rich against the poor is simply un-American.  Mr. President, if you or any other American hates the rich, then you’ve got a psychological problem that needs medical attention. The dream of all Americans is, and should be, that we ALL have equal opportunity to be rich through hard work and our own effort. The fact that you and many of your far left followers believe that government should impose “social justice” to make us all “equal” by deciding how much taxes any individual American or class of Americans “should pay” or “can afford” to pay is un-American.  It’s our money Mr. President, not yours, and you have no right to take it from us to fund your destructive and unconstitutional social programs.  I know a lot of small business owners who make “over $250,000 per year” whose employees take home more pay than they do.  Those business owners should not have to pay any more taxes than anyone else.  That would be true “social justice” when everyone finally pays their fair share instead of half the population paying little or nothing in federal taxes as will be the case for the first time in 2011 thanks to your policies.
