Government now wants to ban Tanning Salons?

Tanning Bed

Tanning Bed

It is true. And it is just beginning.

Welcome to the new world of government control over your life. Tanning beds are now deemed to be unsafe  (they cause cancer) and should be banned for anyone under the age of 18 says ann FDA panel.

This recommendation might range from requiring parental consent forms to banning the practice in younger teens.

Dr. Michael Oldin said that ”given the absence of any demonstrated benefit, I think it’s an obligation for us to ban artificial tanning for those under 18″.

However, there are benefits to utilizing the artificial sun of winter – vitamin D.  During the winter we do not get enough sun which our body utilizes to make vitamin D – an essential part of keeping us health. Many people utilize the tanning salons to help keep up their body’s production of vitamin D during the cold, dark and less sunny days of winter.

The FDA is reviewing its tanning bed regulations after a recent analysis linked the devices to skin cancer.

Under the new Health Care bill, we may be seeing more and more of this type of government control over private businesses especially if the government is going to be “paying” for your health care it will give them a legitimate right to tell you what to do and not do. And it did take them long to start with tanning salons.

Welcome to a brave new world and the myriad of new edicts that will be coming forth telling you what you can and can not do in your daily life…

First it is tanning. Will waterskiing be next?
