“Apathetics” is a term coined by Lester Milbrath to describe those who show no interest in politics, but tend to complain the loudest. Apathetics make up 33% of the population. The voter turnout for state and local elections is significantly lower than presidential elections and it’s not just the apathetics that don’t vote. It’s true, midterm elections don’t have the glitter and glamour of a presidential election, but state and local officials have more of an effect on your everyday life.
That being said, there are many viable candidates to vote for this year for Senate, govenor, and lots of local candidates.
Dante said, “The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who in time of crisis remain neutral”. So I ask the apathetics and those who were not going to vote, take a closer look at the candidates and head to the polls this November.
